Soviet Montage Video Essay

Assignment:
Students will construct a video essay on the topic of Soviet Montage of no more than 3 minutes in length. Students will find scenes from at least 2 films that illustrate 2 of the five types of montage editing. The video essay will include a voiceover evaluating and critiquing the clips. make sure you name the film, director, and the year of the film in the voiceover
The voiceover will describe each scene, the montage editing technique used.

Will have an introduction and conclusion that will demonstrate an understanding and the

goals of of Soviet Montage in it's original context, and in the modern usage in film, television,

music videos or commercials.


How does the use of the technique support and communicate the story?

For each clip the voiceover will state why the chosen clip is a good example of Soviet Montage.


Why did the director choose that technique over others?

Was the director's choice of the technique effective, why or why not?

Student will turn in a script and list of sources in addition to the film
